At 9am, I travelled to Jurong where her home is and she invited me in. She was in the middle of feeding her third boy who is 7 months old. After the feeding, she left him on a mattress in the living room with me while she went to wash the bottle. She returned about 5 minutes later and started watching the television for news. She played with her boy for a little while before deciding that she wants to take him out for a walk.
At around 10am, we left the house and head to the playground downstairs with her baby boy to take a stroll. He seems really happy to be out and she is busy talking to him and telling him what is around him. I
ONE DAY OBSERVATION
guess she believes that education starts young. After half an hour or so, we returned to her house.
At 10.40am, she went to bathe her baby boy in the bathroom. I followed her into the bathroom to observe her and her bathroom. She has shelves to contain her various products, mostly children products too. Her products were at the top shelf to prevent her boys from reaching for it and breaking it. She has different products for different functions. Sometimes there were even 2 products for 1 function. She has 2 facial cleansers of different brands – 1 Estee Lauder and 1 Clinique. She says that she doesn’t use the Clinique one anymore but she does not have time to throw it out or give it to somebody. Her SK-II products were of the largest size in the market.
After bathing her boy, she began to feed him again at around 12pm and put him to sleep afterwards. During her free time, she would wash her children’s clothes and disinfect their milk bottles. After an hour or so, she prepared lunch and offered it to me. Then we chatted a bit before her boy woke up crying for more milk and a diaper change. We played with him while watching TV until about 4pm when he fell asleep again.
At around 4.30pm, her husband returned and went over to the childcare to pick her 2 older boys up. Her two boys were very active and shy when they first saw me. However, I played with them for a while and they seem to open up more to me after. While I was playing with them, her husband went to buy dinner while she fed her youngest boy.
At around 6.30pm, dinner was served and they sat together to eat. After eating, she washed the dishes while her husband played with the boys on the floor. They were building lego bricks together.
At around 8pm, the boys were tired and both of them said that they were going to shower the boys. So, I left while they shower the boys and put them to sleep after.
